Amphibian brief

The Turri has proved itself over several months of hard use in the shifting weather of New Hampshire. Since it is pricey, I decided to say a word in its favor here. I call it amphibian because it works in seemingly opposing situations: business and shopping, hauling and pleasure. It has a double nature. Consider: The campomaggi leather is soft, pliable, durable, and hugs the body when you use the strap across your chest. The zippers always zip! I've had chic brand bags with chinzy zips--- very frustrating. But most importantly, the Turri is adaptable. If I need to shop on the way home -- a can of honey-glazed peanuts, some shampoo, some cigarettes, bananas -- I can shift the daily load of journal and books to the other side and everything fits nicely. Keys and glasses don't have to shift: they are secure in the outside pockets, so no panicky looking for them. The cotton lining does a true job of work that I didn't expect and even didn't understand when I bought the bag. The key is not only the inner construction but how it works with the leather shell, which again is remarkably flexible. I've had many bags but nothing as adaptable as the Turri. There's even a small strap on one end that makes a good place to put a free hand when you are on the way. It does seem the designers had this one figured to a T.
