These tapestries are made of ramie, an extremely durable and lustrous fiber that is similar to linen, and often used in ultra-high-class designerwear clothing. Ramie, also called China grass, boasts a high resistance to bacteria, mildrew, rotting, and insect attacks, as well as a natural stain-resisting ability.

TANABATA is a summer festival that occurs each year on the seventh of July.
This date marks an important change in the seasons, but is also a day full of romance. Also known as the Star Festival, this is the one day of the year when two mythical lovers, normally separated by the Milky Way, get to reunite in the heavenly skies.
This tapestry depicts a couple of Tanzaku - strips of paper onto which poems, song, and wishes are written - gently swaying in the breeze, as they hang delicately from a Bamboo branch. Yoshioka-san uses precious vintage Japanese fabrics for the tanzaku.
Hang this on the wall and feel the room brighten up with a breath of summery air!
