These tapestries are made of ramie, an extremely durable and lustrous fiber that is similar to linen, and often used in ultra-high-class designerwear clothing. Ramie, also called China grass, boasts a high resistance to bacteria, mildrew, rotting, and insect attacks, as well as a natural stain-resisting ability.

The artwork on this tapestry depicts a 'Kabuto' - a samurai warrior helmet worn in battle during feudal Japan - that symbolizes strength and discipline. The Kabuto is a popular decorative theme used for the Boys' Festival* in Japan, which is an annual celebration of the health and nurture of children, particularly boys (May 5). The Irises, firmly planted in the background, stand for valour and wisdom, also traits that are strongly desired in young boys in the traditional Japanese culture. The gold lamé beautifully accentuate the top and bottom borders of the tapestry.
